Arts and Culture Web Forum Launched
We have launched an arts and culture discussion forum on this site to enable creative practitioners in the valley to talk to each other.

We hope that the forum will complement other activities and communications channels designed to support and strengthen the creative community in the Colne Valley.

stage 1 leader applications
Well done everyone.
We got it together to submit a stage 1 Leader application on time. Initial indications are looking good, although we need to tighten up the project plans a little more and cross our fingers!
The initial bid is looking for funding to hold a series of arts events from april - november:
• holding an arts market (one off initially, then reviewed
regarding an ongoing plan)
• an arts pub walk (in the style of the host event where you follow a trail over a weekend and can view art works in local pubs and watch short performances/street art etc)
• holding an arts in the park event in the summer - this would be a free event for anyone to attend where they could try their hand at some creative activity, e.g. sculpting, weaving, photography, puppetry, wood working, modelling etc.
• a film project - working with residents to make a short film celebrating elements of life in this valley - including memories of childhood, working in the mills, landscape , weather etc. To be shown in a range of local venues e.g. pubs/evening event/schools and possibly shown outdoors as a one-off outdoor cinema event.
So come to our next meeting where we will be working in small project groups to finalise plans. The venue for the next meeting has changed............ it will now be at Slaithwaite band room, 7.30 - 9.00 on thursday 4th feb. Email me at lisa@irbaby.com if you need directions. Hope to see you there!
