Meeting 16th February - Julie

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbBKfEh6byAAs we have a river and canal - this might be worth a look. Local boat owners can enter their craft in a competition for the best illuminated water craft and they “parade” down the river/canal. It means marshalling the canal, barriers will have to be erected for the length of canal in use and blocked at either end of the used space for safety’s sake. If you tie this in with November 5th, you can end the illuminations with a fireworks display . Music event can be tied in to follow the fireworks in local bars. A word of warning, due to the popularity of the event, Matlock is grid locked, and queues for food/drink are impossibly long. The upside of this, of course, is the increased trade for local businesses.  http://www.derbyshire-peakdistrict.co.uk/matlockbathilluminations.htm    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Erdmm6auZ0shttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dg4qZEzfrqQ  Nice to meet everyone tonight. Thanks for the warm welcome.J, Dax and Bob. Apart from a belly dance workshop and a drumming workshop, both of which can be linked to health and fitness as well as artistic expression, there is this little gem, Poi, which is pretty appealing to young people. There are practitioners of LED and fire poi too (not recommended as a workshop, but great for night time events).
