Colne Valley Trust meeting July 19 2010

Marsden and Slaithwaite Renaissance is looking for interested people to look at the possibilities for setting up a community owned trust, which might have a number of functions, but would include managed housing. This would mean there would be some provision for affordable housing in the Colne Valley in the future.

The first stage of this is to bring together interested people to talk about the options and potentially join the trust planning group. With this in mind, you are invited to a meeting on Monday 19th July at the Watershed in Slaithwaite.
The plan for this and subsequent meetings will be to clarify:

  • Clear purpose for the group
  • Confirmed membership and allocation of roles
  • Clear idea of legal form/structure for the group – although this should only follow once a clear idea of the purpose and function of the Trust is established
  • A site/asset opportunity
  • Service and revenue opportunities identified
  • Identification of and securing of resources or sources of funding for feasibility study and development of business case.
  • Action Plan for next stage

If you would like to ask any questions about what a Community Land Trust is, or the initial aims of the project, please feel free to contact Andrew Petrie, Head of Policy and Evaluation at dba Management Consultancy Ltd, via www.dbamanagement.co.uk. Andrew will be supporting a project group to get this project off the ground.

If you are able to make the meeting, it would be great if you could let us know, in order that we have an idea of numbers.
