About the Renaissance Programme in Marsden and Slaithwaite
Since 2004 a growing number of local Colne Valley people have become involved in the Renaissance Programme. They see the unique opportunity provided by this community-led programme to help to shape the future of our villages. Although the original spark for this programme came from Yorkshire Forward (the regional development agency for Yorkshire and the Humber), the emphasis is now firmly on local people working together to develop our local communities for the benefit of everyone who lives in or works in the Colne Valley.
Our Vision for the Colne Valley
Our vision is of a cohesive and diverse community living and working together for a sustainable future, creating a Colne Valley that we can all be proud of, and that is a great place for our children, and their children in turn, to grow up in.
How You Can Get Involved
The Renaissance Programme recognises that many of us don't have the time, or for that matter the desire, to participate in meetings, or do a lot of work in our free time on a voluntary basis. Equally some are able and willing to make these kinds of commitments. So we have tried to create a number of ways in which you can get involved, put your ideas forward, and help to make the 2030 Vision a reality.
- Public Events
- This 2030 Vision web site
- Project Groups
- The Renaissance Steering Group
The first thing to do is create a user account on this website. It is free, it only takes a minute, and it will enable us to keep you informed and in touch with the Renaissance programme. And/or sign up for our "2030 Vision" newsletter - see the link on the bottom left of every page on the site.
If you want to get involved in any of the listed projects then make contact with the named project champion. There should be a contact link on each project page, or you can use the general contact page.
If you have a great idea for a new project that you might like some help with to take forward, then get in touch. We hold regular steering group meetings (in Slaithwaite currently), where you could pitch your project idea and get some useful feedback, advice and support.
