Housing and Hydro Power in the Colne Valley: Public Meetings

Renaissance has been busy over the summer. Work continues on exploring the potential for a development trust/community land trust. A number of ideas have been raised in the two previous meetings on this issue, and the next session will seek to focus on the best opportunities and take those forward. Further information here.

Also, on September 15 there is a public meeting organised in partnership with the Alternative Technology Centre in Hebden Bridge to  consider the potential for hydro-electricity generation in the Colne Valley. Details here.

2030 Vision : The Marsden and Slaithwaite Renaissance programme

2030 Vision is a community led initiative about promoting the sustainable social and economic development of Marsden and Slaithwaite. The project continues to evolve and is currently focused around a number of specific projects encompassing the interwoven themes of:

  • Our natural and built environment
  • The health and well-being of people living and working locally, and
  • Our sustainable future as a community.
Find out more on the Projects page.

Our Vision for the Colne Valley

Our vision is of a cohesive and diverse community living and working together for a sustainable future, creating a Colne Valley that we can all be proud of, and that is a great place for our children, and their children in turn, to grow up in.

How You Can Get Involved

It's as easy as 1,2,3:

  1. The first thing to do is create a user account on this website. It is free, it only takes a minute, and it will enable us to keep you informed and in touch with the Renaissance programme. And/or sign up for our "2030 Vision" newsletter - see the link on the bottom left of every page on the site.
  2. If you want to get involved in any of the listed projects then make contact with the named project champion. There should be a contact link on each project page, or you can use the general contact page.
  3. If you have a great idea for a new project that you might like some help with to take forward, then get in touch. We hold regular steering group meetings (in Slaithwaite currently), where you could pitch your project idea and get some useful feedback, advice and support.
